Child-Resistant Closures

Stress Engineering Services is an authority on designing Child-Resistant Closures (CRC) using predictive analysis tools. We began our work in this area in 1991, when the U.S. Department of Health funded a major research project aimed at developing predictive analysis tools for the design of CRC’s for medical and consumer packaging.

As with snap-fit assemblies, we use a combination of analytical methods, finite-element calculations, and carefully directed materials testing to develop effective CRC designs for our clients. We have special expertise in ensuring that the child-resistant, senior-friendly aspects of a closure system are achieved across a broad range of manufacturing tolerances.
