This course will provide training in the fitness-for-service evaluation methods of the API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 (2016) Standard…including the many new additions and changes in the 2016 edition.  Attendees will learn the basic rules and principals for Level 1 and Level 2 assessments of damaged equipment.

This 3½ day course will cover all of the sections of API 579, from Part 3 (Brittle Fracture) to the new Part 14 (Fatigue) and also review introductory materials in Parts 1 and 2.  Numerous hands-on examples, case studies, quizzes and class-work assignments will provide a departure from a straight lecture format and maximize participant involvement.  Numerous demonstrations and guest lectures are also included to provide real-world techniques and solutions to fitness-for-service problems.

Course Instructor

Greg Garic, P.E. - Stress Engineering Services

Mr. Garic has over thirty-five years of experience in analysis and fitness-for service assessment. He has spent most of his career working in the areas of structural integrity assessment and remaining life evaluation of pressure vessels and piping.

He has served as a member of the ASME Subcommittee on Flaw Evaluation, the ASME Pressure Vessel and Piping (PVP) Conference’s Design & Analysis Committee, and the ASME Task Group on Post Construction Issues. He is an associate editor of several PVP volumes relating to fracture mechanics and fitness-for-service issues. Mr. Garic has taught numerous courses and seminars on topics related to engineering mechanics, analysis, and fitness-for-service assessment.

Mr. Garic is a Principal of Stress Engineering Services and Managing Principal of the New Orleans office. He has a B.S. and M.S. from the University of New Orleans in Mechanical Engineering and is also a registered Professional Engineer.

Course Fee

    • Regular Registration - $1,795.00
    • Group Registration (3 or more attending from company) - $1,695.00

Registration Fee includes a copy of the instructor’s presentation, Tuesday evening reception, along with daily continental breakfast and lunch (Tues - Fri).

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received by 9/1/17 will be granted a full refund. Cancellations received after 9/1/17 will be charged a $200 cancellation fee.  If the course is canceled, a full course refund will be given to those who have paid.

PDH Credits

Professional development hours (PDH): participants will receive (21) PDH credits upon completing the workshop.
