Finite element analysis of a unitized load of boxes during a 20G impact event applied at the pallet. Boxes are constrained only by friction and the presence of the stretch film. The film has elastic-plastic properties and was applied with 250% pre-stretch. Sliding of the boxes and restraint by the film can be seen following the impact. Analysis results are shown for the film only, box only, and film together with boxes.
This animation demonstrates the application of computer simulation methods developed by Stress Engineering Services to handle large, complex, highly dynamic transportation packaging and stability problems. This capability opens up new opportunities for applying virtual analysis tools for a wide range of industries including consumer products, food and beverage, and medical products.
